The World Famous Platters

December 5, 2005

I was in Branson on November 21st, 2005 and was fortunate to see “The World Famous Platters” in action once again. It is one of my favorite places to be when I’m in town. I must say that the addition of Yolanda and Freddy is a real plus for the group. The way they interact on stage and the blending of voices just blows me away. Rooster does a great job with Kansas City and finds him a “crazy little woman” from the audience to dance with.

Yolanda does an extremely fantastic job on “Neither One of Us”. The Amos & Andy skit – oh, my gosh – what talent these guys display with their imitations. “Emperor of Soul” as Willie calls Eddie is a perfect name for him. What a voice!! One of the best songs of the day is “Mustang Sally” and watching Willie dance – WOW. You can tell he is really into the music.

Also, I have experienced him singing “My Prayer” to me. If anyone can give you goosebumps – it’s Willie! We can’t forget Freddy here – what did you do before there was a Doctor in the house!! HaHa Love his range of notes and again, interaction with the audience.

There are definitely others we should recognize and praise in this review. The box office personnel, those who help us find our seats and coax us into joining the “love train” and dancing and those in the administrative offices. The theater is very comfortable and it’s easy to see no matter what seat you end up with. But then – how would I really know – cause I’m always up front and center!! HaHa We all miss Brent, but Chris is also a top notch Master of Ceremonies and we all like the jokes contest – even the kids!

If you want to meet the Platters, it is so easy. They will talk with you, answer questions, give hugs, dance with you and sign autographs. If you come on a bus tour, you just might be lucky enough to get them to come on board and say hi. They are extremely personable. What else could you ask for. This, in my book, is a must see show. There are many talents in Branson, Missouri, but the Platters will always remain my favorite!!!
