ONE
MAGNIFICENT SHOW – THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN!!!
Sandi: Wow – we finally made it to
our first show for our first official review since putting on our
editor outfits – so how do you feel, Sis???
Shirley: I feel pretty good! I
finally know who Joe Tinoco is!!
Sandi: Why do you say that?
Shirley: Because I’ve heard his
name around Olathe, KS, where I live, but I never really knew
anything about him, other than that he was an up and coming
entertainer. Now I’ve found out that he was born and raised there
and attended the same high school as my girls, although he is quite
a bit younger. I was really surprised when we got an invitation from
him to review his show in Branson. It really is a small world.
Sandi: Yes, it is. So how did
you like the show?
Shirley: I liked it a lot – it
was MAGNIFICENT! I was pleasantly surprised – you know I was a
little worried the show would be all country and I’m not a big
country fan. I think the name of the show is a little misleading.
Sandi: You mean because of the
“Magnificent Seven” western movie title?
Shirley: Yes – but for those who
don’t know, the show is based on SEVEN DECADES of wonderful music.

Sandi: The show starts out with
a rousing Hank Williams Jr. song and covers some older country music
including songs by Alabama, the Statler Brothers, Tammy Wynette,
Eddy Arnold, Johnny and June Carter Cash, Conway Twitty and Loretta
Lynn.
Shirley: Oh, and don’t forget
that hilarious rendition of “Islands in the Stream” by Kenny Rogers
and Dolly Parton!! That was a hoot!!
Sandi: Don’t you mean “hooters?”
Shirley: Now, now………moving right
along to the Latin Fiesta section of the show!!! I loved this part,
from “Turn the Beat Around” right on through to Joe doing his Ricky
Martin impression!!
Sandi: Yeah, he was “Livin’ La
Vida Loca” - pretty HOT for sure!
Shirley: That Joe is pretty darn
cute!
Sandi: He sure is, and the
costumes were really bright and colorful. The dance routines were
fantastic and made me want to get up and do a little “Salsa!”
Shirley: Yeah, right. I’d like
to see that! Speaking of costumes, Tamra told me there were around
175 costume changes in this show. That is really impressive. I don’t
know how they can change that quickly!!

Sandi: I think she said lots of
Velcro!!
Shirley: Didn’t you love the
Groups and Duos from the forties, fifties, and so on? They covered
everything from the Andrews Sisters and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,”
through to the Everly Brothers, the Temptations, the Jackson Five,
the Beatles, the Bee Gees – “Staying Alive” was great!!
Sandi: And remember the Oak
Ridge Boys when Joe and Jason came down into the audience singing
“Bobbie Sue” – Joe took my hand and was singing “I want to m.m.m…marry
you” and then along came Jason who knocked him out of the way and
then HE took my hand!!! I really enjoyed that!!!
Shirley: I think you were
blushing!! I’d have to say that my very favorite part was the Elvis
Impersonator Spoof!! I wasn’t sure if I’d like that or not, but it
was hysterical, to say the least. How many Elvi were there, anyway?
I lost count!!!
Sandi: I think there were 12 or
13 total, but Joe was the funniest.
Shirley: Joe?? Don’t you mean
Ricardo Concito Burrito Mosquito or whoever??
Sandi: Si Si Muchacha!! And his
rendition of “Suspicious Minds” had us both rolling in the aisles!!!
I cracked up when he was swinging that belt and chasing the other
Elveeeeeeeeeses.
Shirley: That number is
definitely the comedy highlight of the show.
Sandi: Yes I’d have to agree. My
next favorite part would have to be the Gospel music.
Shirley: Mine too. All the
gospel music was wonderful, but “King Jesus” just about raised the
roof!! The whole cast put a lot of soul into that number!!
Sandi: I know – they were
awesome!!! The stage setting was perfect too - with the stained
glass windows - that really gave it a sacred feel.
Shirley: They sure have an
outstanding band, don’t they?
Sandi: Yes, very cool, loved the
brass and the piano! Randy Holmes is their director and does a
terrific job.
Shirley: The second half of the
show took us first to Broadway and “Oklahoma.” And didn’t Tamra give
a wonderful performance as Barbra Streisand in “Funny Girl?” She’s
really gorgeous and I enjoyed her singing. They did several of my
favorites from different shows, but I especially loved Joe as Gene
Kelly in “Singing in the Rain.” Tamra and Joe are both so talented.
Sandi: You’re right about that!!
They actually produced the whole show! Joe is also a songwriter and
the song he sang to his little girl was very touching. She is so
cute!!! AND Joe is nominated for Best Performer here at
Bransoncritic.com!!
Shirley: Well deserved too! I
also think Joe and Tamra and the entire cast really outdid
themselves during the Swing Era, with “Swing, Swing, Swing” and “It
Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing”!!
Sandi: Doowat, doowat, doowat,
doowat!!!!
Shirley: Is your hat too tight??
Sandi: Shut up about my hat –
we’re almost to the finale!! How did you like that??
Shirley: I absolutely loved it!
The red, white, and blue costumes, the patriotic scenery - the whole
thing was outstanding!!
Sandi: Especially Joe’s original
song, “American Soldiers,” and the tribute he paid our veterans. It
was so special that he recognized each service branch and asked them
to stand – always brings a tear to my eye.
Shirley: It was special, and
“Living in America” was a spectacular finish to a great show!
Sandi: So would you give the
show a “TEN?”
Shirley: I WOULD!! Now I know
why it’s nominated for Best Show in Branson this year! It was
imaginative and fast-paced and judging from the audience reaction,
everyone there agreed – it was a HIT!!
Sandi: I’d say everyone ought to
visit the Magnificent Seven Show at the White House Theater,
wouldn’t you??
Shirley: Yes – take it from the
