We’ve
seen a number of shows this week, and enjoyed all of them, but the
one which we will remember the most fondly, long after our trip has
ended, is one which we stumbled upon by accident. We were walking
downtown and decided to try our luck at a magic show at the Owens
Theater, called “Peter the Adequate – The smallest Magic with the
Biggest Heart”.
I’m not sure whether it was the honest title or the fact that it
just sounded interesting, that made us decide to see it.
The show was everything it promised and a whole lot more.
My wife and I were amazed at how effortlessly Peter moved
from entertaining and involving the children in the audience,
to amazing and moving the adults. It is a show with a lot of
audience involvement.
Towards the beginning of the show he does a sidesplitting routine
with three children, some coloring books and a vast array of props
and costume pieces. It was a kind of sidewalk shuffle using kids
instead of cards.
Towards the end of his show, he brought my wife and me up to the
stage, borrowed her wedding ring (after a long series of corny but
very funny comedy bits) pretended to loose it and then found it
inside a walnut which was inside an egg which was inside the sixth
or seventh of a set of nested metal cases.
While it was an amazing trick, the most amazing part was
that he then got me to get down on one knee and propose to my wife
all over again, as I placed her ring back on her finger. We spent
the rest of the evening talking about things we could do to keep the
romance fresh in our marriage after 37 years.
I highly recommend this show for anyone of any age who wants to have
an afternoon of fun, laughter and magic. The show touched our funny
bone and our hearts. - Cody fisher, Texas
