Top grand finalist wins $2,500
Premiering on Center Stage at the
Branson Mall on Saturday,
March 19, is a talent competition from which the top acts will be
offered their own show at the Branson Mall and one act will win
$2,500 in a December grand finals.
Called Mallstar, the competition is a divided into seasonal events
with preliminaries and a seasonal finals building to grand finals.
Only the March 19 first quarter preliminary focuses on finding acts
to be featured on Center Stage. Contestants may choose to perform a
10-minute "mini-show" to be considered for Center Stage. Those not
interested in the Center Stage opportunity and those in subsequent
competitions have a five minute time limit.
Performers of all ages and types, groups and solos, are encouraged
to participate using either their own CD background music and/or
instruments such as guitar, fiddle and keyboard (no drums).
Mallstar first quarter preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. on March 19.
Enrollment is being accepted by fax and on site the night before the
competition. The top acts will be invited back for first quarter
finals on March 26. The winner of first quarter finals will receive
a piece of jewelry designed especially for Mallstar by Master
Jeweler Eddie Corkran, radio and stage appearances, a gift package
from the various mall stores and, upon approval by mall management,
their own regular show in the Branson Mall. In the case the winner
is not interested in having a Center Stage show the rest of the
prize package and the slot in the December grand finals will be
awarded.
Dr. Dale Smith, founder of the non-profit American Kids Inc., will
host the competition which has been developed by officials with
American Kids and the Branson Mall as a benefit for the group’s
scholarship program. American Kids Inc. is the nation’s only little
league of entertainers with a two-decade history of successful
talent competitions across the country. Branson Mall is the "do it
all" mall and the only all indoor, climate controlled mall in
Branson.
Future dates for Mallstar competitions are second quarter
preliminaries on April 2 and 16, May 7 and 21 with second quarter
finals on June 18; third quarter preliminaries July 9 and 23, Aug.
13 and 17 with third quarter finals on Sept. 10, fourth quarter
preliminaries on Oct. 1 and 15, Nov. 5 and 19 with fourth quarter
finals on Dec. 3. Winners from each finals will be invited to grand
finals to be held mid-December with the date to be announced.
