Lost
in the 50s for the second time
We just returned (May 2006) from seeing
Lost in the 50's again,
and it was not as good as two years ago. The guys and gals were not
very good looking. They didn't put out the effort like the other
group. Some of the skits were left out. I saw another review of
someone who just returned also, and they said the skate scene was in
theirs, it was not in our show as other things were left out as
well.
There was lot of different music this time, some I didn't care for,
like, "Singing in The Rain", or the Marilyn Monroe song. Songs they
did the same as the other group were not as good as the other. They
had good voices and danced well, but their unattractive looks was a
distraction and leaving things out made me feel cheated. Some of
them did their own way of singing a song instead of trying to sing
it the way the original was sung. A lot of the songs are actually
60's.
One good thing is the Elvis impersonator was not there. He was very
bad at doing Elvis. But, with him out of the show it reveals the
slack effort the group put out cutting corners. There was no
interaction with the audience either.
This group wore the same costumes more than once in different scenes
instead of having different costumes for every performance. The
group in May 2004 packed the show with so much and were constantly
changing clothes and scenes, it was wonderful.
Having said all of that, if you haven't seen it before, you will
love it, though. The best feature now is Barney Fife. As before he
is a big hit. We loved him. My father was seeing it for the first
time and he loved it. There is something special about seeing a live
performance like
that and it makes it even better. I do recommend it because the
group is very talented and what they do, they do well.
There is plenty of seating and the theater is clean and cool. The
people are very nice. You have your picture taken as you go in and
have the option of buying it at the middle
break. The group will autograph it after the show.
The band is excellent. The whole show is very professional and
preformed with precision. It moves quickly with no slack time for
boredom. It is very loud and lively and will make you happy watching
it. It does take you back in time and if you were born back in those
days, you will find yourself identifying with the scenes that you
once lived yourself. You will find yourself saying, "Oh, yes I did
that, too".
Don't forget to visit the 'Fifties Cafe'. It is great to see the
wonderful nostalgia, as well as the cars. The soft-serve ice cream
in a big cone is great.
Yes, all in all, you can't visit Branson and not get "Lost in the
50s"; it 'is' the best show in Branson.
