Cousin Gene's Home Overtaken By Tony Roi

January 19, 2006

Part 1of 2 family reviews

We're all here at my cousin's Gene's house and my two cousins from Kansas are insisting we write about when we saw Tony Roi last summer. They mentioned seeing him several times so we were almost ordered to see the show when we were Branson! Neither my husband or I had ever seen an Elvis impersonator except on TV and we were really never impressed by any of them!

I was in my twenties and in LOVE with Elvis Presley back in the fifties!! We saw him in concert a couple of times in the sixties and seventies, always had to buy all of his records and go to all of his movies usually at the local drive-in movie theater. We even had the Elvis room in our house with pictures and memorabilia. We loved anything and everything Elvis! Our kids thought we were crazy because they liked the Rolling Stones and the Animals!

So we didn't know really what to expect but when they turned out the lights, the pictures of Elvis came on the screen, the 2001 Space Odyssey started and the curtain opened - we were really expecting a lot being the big Elvis fans that we are!!!

Tony Roi singing an American SongWhen Tony walked onto the stage and started singing "A Little Less Conversation" we were so overwhelmed that even my husband had a few tears in his eyes and we could hardly look at one another! What we thought would be a hokey impersonator show turned out to be one that brought back so many great memories of Elvis that we were almost in shock! It was almost unbelievable to see Tony looking, sounding and even moving like Elvis of the seventies. What a great experience and what a great performer!

We had been to Branson years before and gone to a couple show but never stayed to meet the performers or get autographs but this time was different! When Tony said he would be out to sign autographs we just had to stay and get his cds autographed. We had a very nice chat about Elvis and Tony's love of all kinds of music and were very impressed.

We were only supposed to stay two nights in Branson but we decided to stay one more so we could fit another Tony Roi show in before we started home. At the second show, we both went up to have our pictures taken on stage with Tony and had him autograph that after the show. We met some very nice people at Tony's show too - those working at the theater and even some fans in the audience. If we had a computer of our own, we would have written this review much sooner after seeing Tony. We tell everyone about Tony and we hope we can go back to Branson this summer...........continue to Part 2 and hear Uncle Gene version of events.
