Broadway Star Spangled Celebration
I'm not a fan of Broadway normally but this cast of dancers and excellent vocalists has made me want to see the great musicals they sing in this show!
Great song and dance from Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Man from LaMancha, Mame, 42nd street, Cabaret and Chicago to name a few. The surprises in the show for me were from musicals of Copacabana, Grease and Mamma Mia. Pure electricity! I want to bolt out of my seat and dance! Merrill also does 3 songs from the Osmond era that I have seen older people sit up and take notice, smile and join in singing. His singing 'Music of the Night' from Phantom is the best song he has ever sang, it is superb. A hush falls over the audience when he finishes and then erupts into wonderful applause, it is a breathtaking song. The theater is roomy, always clean and great staff at the box office to the ushers. The cast come out after the show for autographs and photos and are very gracious and kind to each person leaving the theater. I get the feeling of family at this theater, everyone is so cheerful. For someone that groans when the words 'Broadway' or 'musical' is mentioned, I have been changed by this show. Even if Merrill weren't in it, I would enjoy the show just for the electricity that comes off the stage. I have seen Broadway Star Spangled Celebration for almost 5 weekends since it opened, I have family in Branson and I make it a special date to see this show every time there. It gets better every time I see it! -Julie R
