Brett Family Singers -
Full Gamut Of Emotion
December 16,
2005
The Brett Family Singers is a great show of
feel-good, patriotic, high-energy entertainment that runs the full
gamut of emotion from laughter to tears. We saw the show for the
first time some years ago, and there were five of them performing,
but apparently one of the sons is off on a mission trip, so they are
carrying on with the remaining four. And they are carrying on so
well. Garon, the now 16 yr old, has really stepped up as a performer
and is the bass part for the several a capella numbers they do.
And
speaking of the a capella pieces, the harmony and range of this
family is incredible. It would be hard to pick out the purest voice,
as each is bell quality for their own part, and together they do
some beautiful renditions of old favorites and newly arranged
pieces. From the Beach Boys, Neil Diamond, contemporary Sarah Evans
to the Andrews Sisters, everyone would recognize many of their
personal favorites. In addition to their rich harmonies, the
on-stage band is very complimentary to the show, but never over
powering, a nice mix.
Good entertainment will include lots of variety, and the Brett
Family show does just that. Michael Bliss is the comedy portion of
the show, and interacts so well with the audience. You will laugh,
guaranteed, he is good. Then there is the dancing of Briahna, the
daughter. Her dance while her Dad sings about “his little girl” is
absolutely beautiful, even touching as you see them perform
together. Briahna will also play piano, in addition to her powerful
and crystal clear singing. Then Garon will delight everyone with his
basketball prowess and ball handling skills, a nice interlude in the
show.
Perhaps the best part of the whole show is the patriotic portion. A
beautiful tribute is read by Andrea via a poem she wrote to “the
veteran” followed by a song she also wrote that is moving. The final
scene prior to the intermission break is this song in crescendo with
a huge American flag lowering behind the family, all dressed in WWII
uniforms. It is very stirring, and in all the times we’ve seen the
show, it always brings the audience to their feet with feelings of
pride and gratitude.
This is the best show in Branson. Entertainment as it’s expected to
be, and imparting a feeling that you can take with you and enjoy. A
must-see for any Branson tour, and a sure win-win for any tour
director.
