2,400th ‘Gene Williams Show features Razzy Bailey

The next telecast of the Lucas Oil Products sponsored "Gene Williams Country Television Show" is a landmark for the headliner’s 2,400th broadcast with the timeless Razzy Bailey as a returning guest.

"My friend Razzy belongs among the all-time classic American songwriters, producers and singers with 13 #1 hits and 30 top #10 hits. He is one of country music's most eloquent and enduring poets, and one of pop and southern rock music's most gifted artists," said Williams. "He is a Billboard's Country Singles Artist of the Year and was recently inducted into the Atlanta, Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame. He has received so many awards and honors that no complete list of them currently exists."

Among Bailey’s hits are "What Time Do You Have to Be Back in Heaven," "Tonight She's Gonna Love Me (Like There's No Tomorrow)," "If Love Had a Face," "I Ain't Got No Business Doin' Business Today" and "I Can't Get Enough of You." In the 80's, he set a record which will never be matched with six #1's, all of them back-to-back from three double-sided releases, "Loving up a Storm," "I Keep Coming Back/True Life Country Music," "Friends/Anywhere There's a Jukebox" and "Midnight Hauler."

Acrobats of China Juggle Theaters

Performing at Musical Palace in Branson, Missouri June 18 through June 30, 2005

Branson, Missouri - (June 16, 2005) -- World renown for their incredible feats of acrobatic agility and beauty, once again the Acrobats of China juggle theaters in Branson, Missouri. As the Acrobats of China featuring the New Shanghai Circus await the completion of their new theater, Lizhi Zhao, CEO and Owner, announced today that the Acrobats of China are performing at the Musical Palace on Hwy 248 in Branson, Missouri from Saturday, June 18 through Thursday, June 30, 2005. Show times are at 3:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday with an additional 8:00 PM performance on Sundays. Zhao said, "Being able to perform our shows at the Musical Palace on Hwy 248 in Branson is good news for the New Shanghai Circus and our customers. With thousands of reservations from our visitors, we are so glad we won't be disappointing them."

These performances will take place at the Musical Palace on Hwy 248 in Branson instead of the New Shanghai Theatre, as there have been delays in completing the parking lot for the new theater. Due to the construction delays, the Acrobats of China have been performing at different theaters in Branson. Zhao said, "You've heard of the game called Musical Chairs, well our game seems to be Musical Theaters. This is pretty common in Branson…but usually we play it year to year not week to week!"

The Musical Palace Theatre is located on Hwy 248. This is on the other side of Branson from the Acrobats of China's new theater. Signs announcing the temporary location are at that location as well as flyers being distributed throughout Branson. Zhao said, "We greatly appreciated performing at the Tri-Lakes Center last week and are delighted to have a temporary home at the Musical Palace. We've been informed that our new theater is to be completed by the first of July. Meanwhile we are once again relying on our friends to help spread the word that we are at the Musical Palace Theatre, which also features the #1 Hits of the 60's show."

In its 8th season in Branson, the New Shanghai Circus features more than 40 Acrobats of China presenting their ancient performance art. Young acrobats present their international award-winning acts including "Dream - Handstand Art" and the act known as "Russian Bar” (also know as Foot Juggling on Teeterboard). A revolving line up of acts in the show include the fascinating Diabolo, Plates Spinning, Bicycle Tricks, Fish Net Contortion, Magic Clock, Barrel Contortion, Roller Skating, Lion Dances, and more.

T.G. Sheppard returns for 2 concerts

at Branson Mall Music Theatre June 3, 17

Branson, Mo. -- Following his sold out concert in Branson last August, the legendary T. G. Sheppard is returning to the Branson Mall Music Theatre for two concerts, Friday, June 3, and Friday, June 17, at 8 p.m.

Sheppard’s unstoppable passion for music and his dedication to entertainment has made him one of the most popular performers in country music. Fans are still raving about his first Branson concert. "Sure sounded good and T.G has charisma, plus stage presence to burn...Next time he is in town you will want to catch his act. It is well worth it," said a Branson media show critic.

Sheppard’s remarkable run of number one hits including 10 consecutive number one records combined with his ability to connect with the fans are evidence of his success as a recording artist and a live stage performer. His hits have become his signature songs: "Last Cheater’s Waltz," "Only One You," "Party Time," "Do You Wanna Go to Heaven," "I Loved ‘Em Every One," and "Finally."

His ability to crossover to the pop charts is also evidence of his fan appeal. "I Loved ‘Em Every One," and "Finally" and a duet with Clint Eastwood, "Make My Day" from the movie "Sudden Impact" were all on the pop charts.

With his new CD release "Timeless" last year, Sheppard has once again added a vast new flock of music fans. "People Magazine" said, "The result is this energetic, amiable album that’s a good reminder of why Sheppard was so successful."

Sheppard promises to again provide Branson audiences a great evening of entertainment with his tried-and-true repertoire of hits, delivered with non-stop energy.

Doug Gabriel’s Branson Spotlight begins second season Friday at Stafford Theatre

The much anticipated opening night of Doug Gabriel’s Branson Spotlight is Friday, April 8, at 11 p.m. at the Jim Stafford Theatre, 3440 W. Hwy. 76, Branson.

Six contestants are scheduled to kick-off the second season. Gordon Wensel of Lebanon, Mo., Cierra Pennel of Raymore, Mo., Scott Castleman of Cameron, Mo., Teresa Moss of Chelsea, Okla., Tina Clark of Centralia, Ill., and Marce Kuhns of Raytown, Mo., are the first to compete among the 144 singers from 14 states who made it through the audition process.

Singers compete each Friday night for a prize package including $100 cash and a spot in semi-finals and then the finals to win a top prize of $5,000 cash, sponsored by Pepsi, a recording session, a one-day multi-shoot photo session by Big Smile Studio, and much more.

Doug Gabriel’s Branson Spotlight (formerly Branson Idol) is an innovative project from Gabriel Productions. Produced and directed by Doug Gabriel, it showcases up and coming vocal talent from across the nation in a competition format with guest celebrity judges. The judges narrow the competition to two finalists and the audience ultimately selects the winner.

"We have implemented some new ideas for our second season," said Gabriel, who also stars in The Doug Gabriel Show celebrating its 11th season in Branson, also performed at the Jim Stafford Theatre at 10 a.m. "Each week in addition to a rotating celebrity judge, we will have a rotating celebrity co-host who will emcee with my wife Cheryl. Dominic Haygood from the Haygoods at Music City Centre here in Branson is our first guest co-host.

"We are continuing our guest judge who will also be featured in the guest celebrity performance and interview spot. This week I am pleased to have Bob Anderson who People magazine called America's greatest singing impressionist. He performs at Club Vegas at The Lodge of the Ozarks in Branson."

The guest celebrity will join Gabriel and his judging team: "The Lady Outlaw" Jessica James and a favorite Branson comedian Terry Sanders who will judge each week as Doug's Grandma. Last year the Jim Stafford, Ronnie McDowell, Moe Bandy, Mickey Gilley, Larry Gatlin, Merle Osmond, Pam Tillis and many others were among the celebrity judges. This year many have agreed to return.

"Branson Spotlight focuses on vocalists and many are waiting in the wings for that chance to shine on stage. Branson Spotlight provides that opportunity. Our 2004 winner, Carrie Joy Andreas of Edwardsville, Ill., is enjoying the opportunities our show has given her. We are currently working on her recording session in Nashville. Carrie will be debuting one of her new singles this Friday night at the Branson Spotlight opening. After season one, two contestants are working as professional entertainers in Branson. Yolanda Fletcher is with the World Famous Platters and Wendy Sewell is in '50s at the Hop. Both came from the Tulsa auditions," said Gabriel.

Contestants auditioned this past winter in Lebanon, St. Joseph, St. Louis and Kansas City in Missouri, in Tulsa, Okla. or submitted a mail-in packet.

"Narrowing the talent down to 144 was a challenge," said Gabriel.

Duttons Return to Utah for First Hope

International touring artists and Branson, Missouri’s premier performing group, The Duttons, will be stopping in Utah on their 2005 tour in January, but they will be doing more then “just“ a concert. Three shows are in the offering, two on January 6th in St. George at Dixie College and one at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi on January 7th and all three are being offered as benefit concerts to aid children in need through the First Hope Organization based in Salt Lake City.

First Hope is a group dedicated to aiding the disadvantaged and orphaned children in the care of Cecile Pelous. In 1989, Cecile, a fashion designer from Paris, after having participated in several humanitarian relief actions in India, was asked to come to the aid of young Nepali orphans by Mother Theresa. Moved by the distressful situation of the children, Cecile went to great lengths to find funds to build a home for the children. She was helped by support from two generous local individuals, Bina Malla and Parijat Ghosh. Together, they have founded an association, "Asha Ashram" to help these orphans. Cecile has collected support from a circle of friends and has turned her vision into a reality: to create the conditions necessary for the children to develop and thrive.

This is not the first time The Duttons have come to the aid of Cecile’s children. In 1994 The Duttons filmed their first public television special in Utah. That special, “Music in Your Heart” went on to air nationwide and the proceeds from the sale of the video tapes of that program continue to go to Cecile’s children today. Three national television specials later (two specials taped at the Dutton Family Theater in Branson by the crew of “Touched by an Angel” are currently airing on PBS stations across the nation including KBYU, KUED and KULC) , the Duttons have returned to Utah for a series of 3 concerts with the benefits again going to these children.

“When we first started helping her, we were so impressed with Cecile and the wonderful things she has accomplished with these children over the last years since we got involved in her organization.” says Amy, the lead violinist of the group. “She is an inspiration to us with all the love and care she has given. This is one way that we can help, and give others the opportunity to do the same.”

Featuring a wide array of musical genres, the Duttons combine beautiful vocal harmonies, instrumental virtuosity, high-energy dancing, and heart-warming comedy that will keep everyone entertained and will leave all who watch with a smile.
Throughout the show, each Dutton plays at least six different instruments and each song features something uniquely different. Based now at The Dutton Family Theater in live music capital Branson, MO. the Duttons have traveled nearly two million miles, performing thousands of concerts the world over. Their virtuosity and versatility as musicians and performers has truly set them apart and has garnered them a reputation as one of the premier shows in Branson.

Michael Shertl, director of photography for the Duttons’ last two television specials says of the group, “I have never worked with a group of such professionalism and talent. These projects have been the pinnacle of my career.”

Tickets for the show at Thanksgiving Point on January 7th at 7:30pm are available by calling 801-768-4900 or logging on at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets for the shows at the Dixie College Cox Center on January 6th at 5:00pm and 7:30pm are available by calling 435-652-7800 or by logging on to the Dixie College Box Office at www.dixie.edu. Adult tickets for both shows are $10.00 if purchased in advance and $12.00 at the door. Children are $5.00 each. Additional information on The Duttons and their concert dates is available at

Dr. Dale Smith takes on 2 new roles

Chair of Branson Veterans Task Force and character in ‘Celebrate America’

With his distinctive head of white hair, Dr. Dale Smith of Branson looks like he could be a model for the American Association for Retired Persons, but the word retired doesn’t match this physically fit 73-year-old.

Far from retirement, he recently added two more responsibilities in addition to those of being the founder of the nation’s only "little league" of entertainers, American Kids Inc. Smith is the newly installed chairman of the board for Branson Veterans Task Force and shares the title role of the elder statesman in one of Branson’s newest productions, Celebrate America.

"Both were easy decisions for me," said Smith, a retired educator, who holds a doctorate in administration - education and masters in music education and is a retired major in the Air Force. "Celebrate America tells the unique American story of freedom and the Branson Veterans Task Force is dedicated to honoring our nation's brave soldiers and veterans year round. The two complement each other."

"Dr. Dale will do a good job as the head of the board of directors for the Branson Veterans Task Force," said Bill Groninger, executive director of the Branson Veterans Task Force. "His experience as the founder and leader of his own non-profit in addition to his own military experiences are invaluable to the task force."

Smith saw active service in the Air Force 1951-1953 and for 30 years served in the Reserves. He received the Distinguished Achievement Award of Military Order of World Wars in 1984 and the Pentagon’s Eagle Award 1980.

Smith draws on his life experiences as he portrays Abner Appleberry in Celebrate America presented at Mansion America. As Abner, he must explain to his granddaughter Abigail why her father, who is serving in the military overseas, can't be at home with the family during the Fourth of July. His heartfelt answer is an entertaining journey through the legend and legacy of America’s pursuit of freedom.

"Gene Bicknell, Mansion America’s owner and the co-author of Celebrate America, lets me share the role of Abner," said Smith. "This experience has been filled with happy coincidences. Gene and I discovered we are from the same lead and zinc mining town of Picher, Okla. Our fathers worked in the same refining mill. They were both mill foremen there where Gene’s dad worked a 12-hour day shift and my dad worked a 12-hour night shift. They worked together for 12 years in the ‘40s and ‘50s. We two ‘Abners’ had never met until March of this year."

In another coincidence, four current members of American Kids Inc. are in the Celebrate America cast. Jenna Crispin plays the role of Abner Appleby’s granddaughter. Austin Klinger is cast as Jenna’s understudy. Kasi Means and Sarah Blackerby have children’s roles in the cast. In the adult cast, Tina Cooper, Derek King and Angie Skillern are alumna of American Kids.

"Considering that 37 members and alumni of American Kids are working in the entertainment field here in Branson and some are in the show I’m in is hardly a coincidence. I know the Lord had a hand in this," said Smith, whose organization will turn 23 this fall. American Kids has members in 27 states and promotes drug-free lifestyles, patriotism, family unity and community service using entertainment as the vehicle.

Smith praised Bicknell and Sean Murray, the producer of Celebrate America, for creating a production that is far more than "just a show. Celebrate America is a reflection of who we are by vividly showing us where we’ve been! Knowing this young Americans, the nation’s future leaders, can be better prepared to take us where we need to go.

"The American Kids program, the Branson Veterans Task Force and Celebrate America are all about building a better future by building better kids, better communities, better families. It’s a wondrous God who could design such as opportunity for me to serve Him and it took only a little more than 70 years."

Bicknell said, "Dale is one of the most talented, cordial, congenial people I know. Our roots go back to the same town of Picher, Okla. It’s been a rewarding experience to meet and get acquainted with the Smiths and find a friendship that developed so quickly. It is pleasure sharing the same role with him - the two grandpas."
